Because much of the vintage CHANEL sold in Japan was bought new there. Japanese buyers purchased from the brand throughout the 1980s and 1990s, and those bags have since flowed into a licensed secondhand trade: Japanese dealers must hold a 古物商 licence and verify each seller's identity when they buy in, and the resulting stock is sold through brand-resale shops, pawnshops, Rakuten and Yahoo Auctions shop accounts, and private listings on Mercari. That is why 1990s Matelassé flap bags with the older CC turn-lock are a routine listing in Japan rather than a rare find. The channels are domestic-only, so a proxy supplies the Japanese address and yen payment and forwards the bag from our Japan warehouse.
They date the bag. From the mid-1980s until 2021 CHANEL placed a serial sticker inside each bag and issued a matching card, and the number range indicates the production era; Japanese sellers photograph the sticker (シリアルシール) and card (ギャランティカード) and state whether both are present. Bags made from 2021 onwards carry a metal plate with a microchip instead of a sticker, so a recent bag with no sticker is expected. Neither item is a proof of origin: OneMall is a proxy buying service, not the seller, and does not guarantee authenticity, so read the sticker, card, stamping and hardware in the photos together and ask for any that are missing.
Katakana names for the line, the leather and the hardware, in that order, which is also the order that decides the search. The quilted line is マトラッセ, the classic flap is クラシックフラップ, caviar leather is キャビアスキン, lambskin is ラムスキン, and the CC turn-lock is ココマーク. Hardware colour is stated as ゴールド金具 or シルバー金具.
| Term | Japanese | What it refers to |
|---|---|---|
| Matelassé | マトラッセ | The diamond-quilted line |
| Classic flap | クラシックフラップ | The flap bag, listed by size |
| Caviar / lambskin | キャビアスキン / ラムスキン | Grained calfskin / smooth lambskin |
| CC mark | ココマーク | The interlocking-C turn-lock or logo |
| Chain shoulder | チェーンショルダー | Any chain-strap shoulder bag |
| Vintage | ヴィンテージ / 90年代 | Older pieces, often dated by serial range |
Start with the quilting and the corners, because lambskin shows every scuff, then the chain and turn-lock. Japanese sellers name the flaw and its location rather than summarising, and brand-resale shops add a letter rank whose meaning is the shop's own; a vintage flap listed as ABランク by one shop and Bランク by another can be the same condition. Ask for photos of the corners, the underside of the flap and the interior before ordering.
The order has a payment at order time and a payment when the bag ships. At order time you pay the yen price, OneMall's service fee, shown before you confirm, and any domestic shipping the seller charges. After the bag reaches our Japan warehouse you choose an international shipping method and pay for it; the bag itself is light, but the box adds volume and you can ask to ship without it. Import duty or tax on delivery is decided by your own country, and for a CHANEL bag the declared value makes it likely to apply. Consolidating a bag and smaller items from other sellers into one parcel lowers the shipping per item.
| Paid when | What it covers |
|---|---|
| At order time | Item price in yen, OneMall's service fee, seller's domestic shipping if charged |
| After arrival at our Japan warehouse | International shipping for the method you choose; box optional |
| On delivery, if applicable | Import duty or tax charged by your country |
シャネル, then the line and leather in katakana, then a condition or accessory word. Adding ヴィンテージ narrows to older pieces and adding ギャランティ finds listings that include the card.

Use OneMall as your Japan proxy. We give you a Japanese address, pay the seller in yen, receive your CHANEL order at our warehouse in Japan, then forward it to the USA and worldwide — you do not need a Japanese address, phone number or payment method.
Japanese stores and marketplaces carry Japan-exclusive releases and limited editions that never reach overseas retail. Shopping the Japanese market directly is the only way to reach that inventory.
OneMall searches Japan's major marketplaces and stores in one place — including Mercari, Yahoo Auctions, Amazon Japan, Rakuten, Rakuma, Yahoo Fleamarket, Suruga-ya, Animate and ZOZOTOWN — so you can compare CHANEL listings across sites without opening a Japanese account on each one.
Yes. Items bought from different sellers are received at our warehouse in Japan and can be consolidated into a single parcel before international shipping, which lowers the per-item shipping cost.
OneMall does not guarantee authenticity. Brand items are bought on your behalf from Japanese stores and from sellers on Japanese marketplaces, and our purchase terms state that authenticity, quality and condition are not guaranteed, especially for used items. Read the listing photos and condition notes in full before ordering.
